Mancer hovered near a shelf in Yves' Library. THE Library. His nose in a book, the young Mercurian studied as he often did. When the dusty old man approached, Mancer placed the book back on the shelf and floated down towards the eldest of the angels.

"I am honored, Yves," sang Mancer's voice in the language that could not express falsehood. "But why have you sought me out?" A valid question considering Yves was known to have memorized all the contents of his domain.

"You have made quite the trouble for yourself, considering you are seeking knowledge that doesn't exist."

"Yes, that did trouble me in the beginning. However, I think I have found this knowledge."

The eldest angel's brow cocked slightly. "Oh? How can that be? How can you find that which doesn't exist?"

The Mercurian just smiled. He knew Yves's love of knowledge would make him ask the question, but that was part of the reason Yves couldn't know the answer. "Sir, if I told you that, it would negate the very foundation of magic." And there it was, he had said aloud to one of only a handful of angels who could be trusted with such knowledge.

"Then I must ask, why magic?"

Mancer chuckled, "Why not?" It was as good as answer as any when someone was seeking a Word.

Two Malakim approached the talking duo.

"Mancer, Mercurian of Creation," one of them began. "Please come with us."

Mancer just nodded again. "I'll see you at the trial, Yves."
