The Purity Crusade was hard and brutal. Creatures of myth and legend were hunted down, their vessels eradicated from the mortal realm, their souls destroyed when possible. Uriel's angels were thorough, terribly swift. Only a handful of the ancient gods now survive this burning time. Blandine's realm was a sliver of its former glory, and Beleth was pleased that so many ethereals had turned to Hell for protection.

However, not all of the ethereals fled to Hell. Some stayed and fought, fighting only for their survival or the survival of their kin. One group, the dragons, were different. They fought because it was their right to fight. To overcome any foe, to vanquish those who would oppress, the dragons saw fit to fight for the protection of their hordes, their lands, and for food. Uriel showed them no mercy, and when some few called out to Gabriel for assistance, they were denied. Her madness had made her forget them.

Uriel's armies slew the beasts one by one. And as the last dragon fought against an entire contingent of Uriel's foot soldiers who were armed with ancient relics and the most powerful of songs, the Seraphim Council ordered a halt. All were to return to the spires of Judgement. But just before the final retreat, one lowly Malakite who had been in Novalis's service and granted over to Uriel gave the final blow that slew the last of the Dragons.

The Dragons are no more. Never to be seen or heard again except as figments in the ocassional dreamscape.
